Formula 1 - Abu Dhabi 2022
Grand Prix 2022
As the 2022 Formula 1 racing season draws to a close, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is back again, and the Yas Marina Circuit welcomes a spectacular lineup of superyachts moored along its edge. The Saluzi, Odessa II, Seven, Caipirinha, Rabdan, and Navis One are among the superyachts on the coastline this weekend.
M/Y Seven
Seven is a 28.31-meter motor yacht that has recently returned to Abu Dhabi for the final race after spending the summer in Europe. Built in Italy by Custom Line and designed by Zuccon International Project, the yacht boasts an elegant interior with cherry wood panelling and white stained oak floors. The main saloon is bright and airy, with oversized windows that allow natural light to flood the space. Accommodating up to 10 guests in five cabins, including a master suite on the main deck, two VIP suites, and two twin cabins, Seven is a luxurious and comfortable vessel for cruising.
M/Y Plus Too
At a length of 41.1m, Plus Too is one of the five 135 models constructed by Palmer Johnson in 2008, and boasts the unique design by renowned studio Nuvolari Lenard. The vessel is lightweight and highly manoeuvrable due to its all-aluminium construction, with an impressive top speed of 33 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots. Nuvolari Lenard is also responsible for the naval architecture and interior design of the yacht, which features a continuous eyebrow-shaped glass wrapping around the front of the superstructure, filling the interiors with natural light.
M/Y Navis One
Navis One, formerly known as Queen Anne, has arrived at port after cruising the Mediterranean over the summer. The vessel was constructed by Gentech, a Turkish shipyard, and was delivered in 2014. Throughout the years, Navis One has operated under several names, including Soraya, Soraya One, Ani, and Queen Anne, until it was renamed under new ownership. In 2021, the yacht was seized by the US Marshals and later sold through a sealed bid auction. Following the sale, it underwent a refit. One of the notable features onboard Navis One is a touch-and-go helipad that can be hydraulically raised to provide access to the foredeck.
M/Y Saluzi,
Saluzi with a length of 69.1 meters, has become an increasingly recognizable sight in the Yas Marina after attending the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year. Her zany pink and blue painted design adds to her unique appearance. The yacht was originally named Tia Moana and served as a boutique cruise ship, but was converted into a superyacht in 2012. Saluzi is named after a mystical warhorse of the Tang Dynasty Emperor, Taizong, and the exterior artwork is a modern interpretation of this tale. Today, she is a popular charter yacht with a variety of amenities to match her colorful exterior. These include a professional karaoke lounge, modern beach club, and an outdoor cinema, perfect for a night viewing under the stars. Camper & Nicholsons offer Saluzi for charter starting from $480,000 per week.
M/Y Odessa II
Measuring at 73.1m in length, Odessa II has arrived in Abu Dhabi after a busy summer spent making her way across the Atlantic and then along the southern European coastline. Her impressive build quality and naval design by the German shipyard Nobiskrug won Odessa II the World Superyacht Award for Best Displacement Motor Yacht in her class of 1,300GT to 1,999GT. The yacht also incorporates a whirlpool, an open-air cinema and plush lounge areas throughout, giving those on board ample viewpoints from which to glimpse the Formula 1 cars flying past at this weekend’s race.
M/Y Tranquility
Tranquility, with a length of 91.5m, is a yacht that's sure to catch your eye during this weekend's yacht-spotting activities. Constructed by Oceanco as an explorer yacht with a cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles, she is well-equipped for adventure, but is often seen cruising the Mediterranean during the summer season. The yacht can accommodate up to 26 guests and is outfitted with an array of amenities, including a 20-square-metre swimming pool, two touch-and-go helipads, multiple Jacuzzis, and an extensive spa. Tranquility is available for charter with Camper & Nicholson's for €1,100,000 per week.
M/Y Caipirinha
After a busy summer shuttling between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the 60m Caipirinha has returned to Yas Marina in time for the final race of the season. Originally launched as Katie Sue by Lürssen in 2009, the yacht won the coveted Yacht of the Year award at the World Superyacht Awards. It was later renamed Arkley and 5 Angels before being rechristened Caipirinha by its current owner. Some of its award-winning features include a private cinema, modern audio-visual equipment, a stocked library, and panoramic views for an immersive experience.
M/Y Rabdan
The 73.3m Rabdan was delivered in 2004 by Australian shipyard SilverYachts in collaboration with Espen Oeino International, boasting a striking exterior and naval architecture. Her interiors, on the other hand, were crafted by Danielo Silvestrin, who also worked on her sister ship, Dragonfly. Under the stewardship of the Abu Dhabi Royal Family since 2009, Rabdan is often seen cruising between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, but is currently moored at Yas Marina for the duration of the race weekend.
